Collective Individuals: Interconnectivity

I'm sure you've heard the quote that 'No Man is an Island' and that is still true in many ways.

More recently, society has leaned towards the idea that we're 'self-made' and that success is individualistic. We can be experts in our field, but inevitably there will be another field for us where we may lack expertise. To be honest, we should be reminded that there's nothing wrong with that. Though it is great to set personal goals and even greater to achieve them, seeking help along the way should not be stigmatised.

This is where interconnectivity comes into motion. By definition, interconnectivity is a linking between systems, but in this case it is a linking/ interaction between beings. It is important to be aware that our individuality is not undermined by our interconnectivity. We can still remain true to our own person and function effectively in our field, whilst remaining connected in a wider form.

Just as the human body is made of countless atoms, each atom makes up organs and forms body parts, which work to function seamlessly as a whole. Even more, no part is less important than the other (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). Much like our society, the functionality of each body part differs but the overall goal is achieved.

In essence, we can be perceived as 'Collective Individuals'. Positioning ourselves for greatness may include creating networks and seeking help when needed and should not include creating an obstacle for another's positioning.
